7th SOZAR Congress in Nizhny Novgorod

The 7th Congress of the Union of Zoos and Aquariums of Russia (SOZAR) was held in Nizhny Novgorod from July 4 to 8, 2023. The organizer was the most famous private zoo in Russia "Limpopo", celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Vladimir Gerasichkin, the founder and permanent head of Limpopo, honorary citizen of Nizhny Novgorod, welcomed the guests and showed them around the zoo

For 20 years of work Vladimir Georgievich and his team managed to make the zoo one of the best in Russia in terms of coziness for visitors, collection of inhabitants, conditions of their keeping

The pride of the zoo is the polar bear enclosures. The first one with underwater glazing

And the second enclosure, with a minimum of concrete. This is where the tundra wolves live for the time being

A real highlight of the zoo is the exotarium with a large collection of tropical animals and plants

The work of the decorators deserves special attention

The opening of the interactive exposition "Snow Leopard - Master of Disguise" was timed to coincide with the zoo's anniversary. The exhibition was opened by Svetlana Akulova, President of SOZAR and Director of the Moscow Zoo

Vladimir Georgievich is also an outstanding collector. We were lucky enough to be present at the opening of his new project - the Samovar and Tea Museum

The official part of Limpopo's anniversary was held in the most solemn hall of the city - the Armorial Hall of the Nizhny Novgorod Trade Fair

The main event of the SOZAR congress was a closed session where the work of the organization, its programs, and new participants were discussed

The most important element of the program is informal networking among colleagues. Very interesting discussions take place

On the final day an excursion to the famous village of Diveyevo was organized. The way was not close, but it was worth it!
